Children Onboard: students from a municipal public school visit the backstage of the Salvador Airport

The initiative integrates the agenda for celebration of October 12th

Forty students from the Escola Municipal 25 de Julho installed in the area of São Cristóvão, had a fun and instructive morning at the Airport of Salvador on this Monday (29). As part of the celebrations for the Children´s Month (celebrated in October, in Brazil), they visited the backstage of the facilities. The tour in the main areas of the Airport united several ludic activities and the awareness of safety.

In the activity named “Children on Board”, the students, ages 8 to 12, learned about the routine at the Airport of Salvador. During one of the most expected moments of the day, the students visited the Air Group of the Military Police of Bahia (Grupamento Aéreo da Polícia Militar da Bahia – GRAER). The children were allowed to access airplanes and helicopters and take pictures.

The pilots talked about their daily activities and explained how the rescue and salvation actions take place. Additionally, they transmitted a message of empowerment to the children, encouraging them to maintain focus on the studies and struggle for their dreams.

Before the informal conversation, the children were invited to “recharge their energies” at the Bob´s store at the Food Court, closing with a golden key the morning of information and curiosities about the Airport of Salvador.

Additional initiatives

As part of an internal initiative to celebrate the Children´s Day (October 12th), the children of collaborators of the Airport of Salvador were invited to the same visit described above, when they became acquainted with the daily work of their parents. Along the month of October, they attended the activity and brought toys for donation, which were delivered to the students of the Escola Municipal 25 de Julho.
