Salvador Airport celebrates opening of the biggest Duty Free shop in Brazilian Northeast

The new 600m² store gathers the best of international brands in fashion, electronics, cosmetics and beverage segments


Executives of Duty Free Americas (DFA) and Salvador Airport, authorities and representatives of touristic trade celebrated the opening of the biggest duty-free shop in Brazilian Northeast region. The store is located at disembarkation area of the facility and is bigger than the previous DFA structure.


“I’m sure we can welcome and serve the passengers in this brand new and modern space in a more comfortable, hospitable and careful way. We are offering them here a larger mix of products. This reopening will reflect in the relationship with our suppliers, turning it stronger, and consolidate even more these brands in Salvador”, said Stephanie Katz, Executive Director of DFA Brazil, who are also present at the celebration.


Duty Free Americas is in charge of the operations. The company is a leader in travelling industry in American continent, with 200+ shops at the main international airports and borders in North America, Latin America, Caribbean, Asia and Israel.


The new duty-free shop is larger than the previous one. The area was expanded to 600m², which becomes Salvador Airport DFA the biggest of this type in the whole Brazilian Northeast region. “In this new store, DFA will keep its tradition of offering the best products of the best international brands, with special prices to delight our customers”, highlighted Stephanie.


The shop is available only to international passengers. Its reopening is a landmark of the implementation of a new commercial concept at Salvador Airport, following the global trend of offering a pleasant customer experience. Salvador Airport CEO, Julio Ribas, claims the new Duty Free is an example of it. “The airport is a place where dreams come true, whether for those travelling for business or leisure purposes. So, this journey should be pleasant and provide a great experience”.


The Duty Free Americas shop resumed operations on December 6 th in a soft opening scheme. Since then, customers have been able to find international brands like Carolina Herrera, Dior, Chanel, Lancôme, Chandon, Jack Daniel’s, Veuve Cliquot, Johnnie Walker, Michael Kors, Puma. JBL, Ray Ban and Calvin Klein.


In this new phase, DFA expanded its portfolio, offering more products and brands like: Bourjoir’s, Anne Klein watches, Victorinox, Godiva chocolate, Vinicula Doña Paula, Beats and Tommy Hilfiger watches. Some of the highlights are exclusive DFA products such as: BearHug, Bebida por Infusão, Johnnie Walker, Explorer’s Club and Macallan.


Passengers will also have the convenience of booking their products in both DFA stores at Salvador Airport and withdraw on the day of embarkation or disembarkation, paying the dollar quote on the day of reservation: DFA Guaranteed Dollar.


New store


In October 2019, it will be the turn of the international boarding area to gain a new Duty Free, which will be built on the new pier of Salvador Airport in a total area of about 250m².
