Salvador Bahia Airport, like the entire VINCI Airports network, is committed to the environment. The reduction of environmental impact is practiced through AirPact, the global environmental strategy of the airport network. The efforts led Salvador Bahia Airport to be acknowledged as a “Green Airport” by the International Airport Council - Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI - LAC) and to receive Carbon Accreditation Certifications (ACA Certifcation) at the first and second levels.

Learn more about the initiatives developed here in different areas.

  • Salvador Bahia Airport is the first Zero Effluent in Brazil. All effluent generated is treated in a modern Effluent Treatment Station and 100% is reclaimed as reuse water.

  • We have ACA 2 Certification for the reduction of 6.12% of our carbon footprint and we want to reduce it by 50% by 2030. To do so, we installed a solar plant with 4.215kWp of power, we replaced 100% of the lamps with LED and also replaced old equipment for others with higher efficiency.

  • Salvador Bahia Airport has more than 200 bird species cataloged and performs fauna risk management. Through the fauna management license, we carry out monitoring, capture with techniques that do not cause damage to animals, veterinary treatment, species identification and subsequent release to nature in licensed locations, preserving local biodiversity and reducing 80% of collisions with damage to aircraft.

  • We are the first Zero Dump airport in Brazil. 100% of our solid waste is collected, classified at the Waste Center and sent to the correct destination, where it is used as a raw material for recycling or for the generation of energy and cement. Each year, more than 1,300 tons of solid waste are collected and reintroduced into production processes, thus adopting the concept of circular economy.

  • Our goal is to reduce water consumption by 50% by 2030. To do so, we have adopted the reuse of water in toilets, cooling towers and other non-noble uses, reducing 37% of our drinking water consumption. Since the beginning of the water reuse project, more than 35.000m³ of water have been saved. Our faucets received aerating nozzles, which reduce 70% of the flow without affecting the user's perception.
