Salvador to Have Five Weekly Direct Flights to Chile During the Summer High Season

Salvador will expand its international connectivity during the summer high season, with five weekly direct flights to Santiago, Chile, operated by LATAM Airlines and SKY Airline. LATAM Airlines has announced a new route between the Bahian capital and Santiago, with operations scheduled to begin on January 3, 2027, while SKY Airline will resume the direct connection between the two cities on December 28, 2026. Together, the two operations will expand the number of direct flights between Bahia and one of South America’s main tourist source markets.

LATAM’s new route will operate three times a week, with direct flights between Salvador and Santiago, making travel between Bahia and the Chilean capital easier, with no need for connections. Flights will depart Salvador on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 9:15 p.m., arriving in Santiago at 3 a.m. the following day. In the opposite direction, flights will depart the Chilean capital on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 4:30 a.m., arriving in Salvador at 10 a.m. (local times). From March onward, the service will operate once a week.

SKY Airline will also strengthen the connection between Salvador and Santiago during the high season. The route will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Flights will depart Santiago at 9:30 a.m., arriving in Salvador at 3 p.m. In the opposite direction, departures will take place at 4:10 p.m., arriving in the Chilean capital at 10:20 p.m. (local times). The expectation is for the service to continue on a regular and permanent basis.

The return of the direct connection with Santiago reinforces Salvador Bahia Airport’s strategy of expanding its international connectivity and contributes to attracting South American visitors to Bahia, boosting tourism, business and cultural exchange. In addition to meeting demand between Bahia and Chile, the increased service between Salvador and Santiago strengthens connection opportunities through GOL’s hub in Salvador, allowing passengers from several cities across Northeast Brazil to reach the destination more conveniently and consolidating the airport as the airline’s main connection hub in the region.

Strengthening International Tourism

With the new route, Salvador will have direct connections to seven international destinations: Santiago (operated by SKY Airline and LATAM), Buenos Aires (GOL, Aerolíneas Argentinas and SKY Airline), Montevideo (SKY Airline), Panama City (Copa Airlines), Lisbon (TAP Air Portugal), Madrid (Air Europa) and Paris (Air France).

The variety of destinations has contributed to the arrival of international tourists in the Bahian capital. In the first half of 2026 alone, 152,000 passengers arrived on international flights, representing a 19% increase compared with the same period of the previous year.
