The Salvador Airport Concessionaire, part of the VINCI Airports Group, took over the management of operations on January 2, 2018.

As outlined in the Concession Agreement, the airport's improvement and expansion works are divided into two sub-phases (1B and 1C). The construction contract signed on March 1, 2018, refers to the first phase (1B) works, completed in October 2019. The next phase (1C) is expected to be completed in October 2021.

The first phase of works includes:

• Expansion of the terminal from 64,550 m² to 84,550 m².
• Installation of a new baggage handling and security control system.
• Modernization of restrooms and baby changing facilities.
• Installation of high-speed free Wi-Fi.
• Improvements in passenger terminal signage.
• Enhancements to air conditioning and ventilation systems.
• Improvements to escalators and elevators.
• Expansion of the aircraft boarding and disembarkation apron.
• Improvements in external lighting for highway access, parking lots, and passenger/cargo terminals.
• Interventions on runways 10/28 and 17/35.
• Installation of six new aircraft boarding bridges.

In phase 1C, two additional boarding bridges will be built, increasing the total to 19 boarding bridges at Salvador Bahia Airport.
