Salvador Bahia Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, has been awarded the Ethnic-Racial Diversity Seal for the eighth consecutive year. The recognition is granted by Salvador’s Municipal Secretariat for Reparations (SEMUR) to organizations committed to promoting racial equity and combating institutional racism.
The certification reaffirms the airport’s ongoing efforts to foster a more inclusive, diverse, and representative environment, both within the organization and in its relationship with the local community and passengers. Currently, 70% of Salvador Bahia Airport employees self-identify as Black or mixed-race, while these groups also hold 17% of leadership positions within the company—nearly double the national average of approximately 8% to 9%, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos Brasil. These figures reinforce the airport’s commitment to increasing representation and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
Among the airport’s standout initiatives is the Ocupa Aero Cultural project, a recurring program that transforms the terminal into a space for artistic expression and the celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture. Salvador Bahia Airport has also strengthened its connection with major cultural movements by serving as the Official Airport of AFROPUNK Brazil, a festival that, in 2025, brought together people from all Brazilian states in Salvador, further establishing the city as a national benchmark for culture, music, and diversity.
In addition to its cultural initiatives, the airport maintains ongoing programs focused on inclusion and representation within the organization, promoting training sessions, educational activities, and internal programs that encourage respect for differences and the appreciation of diversity.
"Receiving the Ethnic-Racial Diversity Seal for the eighth consecutive year confirms that we are on the right path in promoting meaningful actions for inclusion and representation. More than a recognition, this achievement symbolizes our daily commitment to building a more diverse, welcoming organizational culture that reflects and embraces Bahia’s identity," said Daniela Franco, Communications Manager at Salvador Bahia Airport.
