Baggage Issues

Know How to Act

Stay Calm!

We understand that baggage-related issues may arise during your trip. Therefore, it’s important to be aware of the appropriate procedures to handle these situations. Below are some important details regarding lost baggage, damage, and theft.

Lost Baggage

If your baggage is lost, it is essential to notify the airline immediately. Go to the airline’s counter or its representative, preferably in the baggage claim area or a location indicated by them. Have your baggage check receipt in hand. The airline is responsible for locating your baggage and delivering it within 7 days (domestic flights) or 21 days (international flights). If the baggage is not found within this period, you are entitled to compensation, which must be paid by the airline within 7 days.

Baggage Damage or Tampering

If your baggage is damaged or tampered with, contact the airline as soon as possible to report the issue. It’s recommended to make the report in writing, preferably still in the baggage claim area. This report can be made within 7 days after receiving the damaged or tampered baggage. The airline is responsible for repairing the damage or replacing the baggage with an equivalent one in cases of damage. In cases of proven tampering, the airline must pay compensation to the passenger.

Baggage Theft

In cases of baggage theft, report the incident in writing to the airline. They are responsible for the baggage from the moment it is checked in until it is received by the passenger. Additionally, file a report with the police, which is the competent authority to investigate the case. The airline will assist with the investigation and take the necessary actions to resolve the situation.
