Salvador Bahia Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, was elected, for the second consecutive year, the preferred airport in the Northeast among residents of São Paulo, according to a Datafolha survey. The airport in the Bahian capital received 16% of respondents’ mentions, ranking ahead of Recife Airport, which received 15%, and Fortaleza Airport, with 13%.
The recognition reinforces the strong connection between Salvador and São Paulo, the main source market for passengers traveling to the Bahian capital and the most relevant domestic destination in the airport’s route network. During the mid-year high season, connectivity between the two capitals will be expanded. Between June 20 and August 1, GOL will offer seasonal Saturday flights between Salvador and Congonhas Airport, departing at 2:50 p.m. During the months of June and July, Azul will maintain operations with five weekly frequencies to Congonhas, from Monday to Friday.
“Receiving this recognition for the second consecutive year is a source of great pride for the entire Salvador Bahia Airport team. São Paulo is our main domestic market, and we continuously work to offer an increasingly better experience to all passengers, with greater comfort, operational efficiency, safety, and connectivity. This result demonstrates that we are on the right track,” says Julio Ribas, CEO of VINCI Airports in Brazil.
In the national ranking of the survey, the highlight was Guarulhos International Airport, chosen by São Paulo residents as the best airport in Brazil, being cited by 71% of respondents. In 2025, the airport handled 47.1 million passengers, representing 37% of Brazilian travelers.
Punctuality
The quality of the experience offered to passengers is also reflected in Salvador Airport’s punctuality indicators. In a ranking released by Cirium in January this year, the airport in the Bahian capital was recognized as the 8th most punctual airport in the world and the 2nd most punctual in Brazil in the small airport category, achieving an on-time performance rate of 87.32%.
