Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of VINCI Airports, closed the third quarter of 2026 with positive results. Between July and September, the terminal maintained its growth pace and welcomed more than 2.141 million passengers, representing a 4% increase compared with the same period last year. From January to September, the airport recorded 6.404 million passengers, an 8.8% increase compared with the first nine months of 2025.
Commercial air traffic (takeoffs and landings) also performed positively, with 15,591 operations during the quarter, up 6.9% compared with 2025, and 46,049 operations year-to-date, an increase of 8.4%. These figures reinforce the role of the airport in Bahia as an important connector of tourist destinations and business hubs, driving the development of the local economy and tourism in Bahia.
Performance around the world
VINCI Airports ended the third quarter of 2026 with 93.5 million passengers across its airports worldwide, a slight decrease of 0.6% compared with the same period last year. Despite the impact of geopolitical tensions in Asia and high jet fuel prices in some markets, positive performance at airports in Europe and Latin America underscored the geographic diversification and resilience of the VINCI Airports network.
In Europe, Budapest recorded a 12% increase in passenger traffic during the summer, supported by the expansion of Wizz Air and Ryanair operations to southern Europe. Belgrade stood out on routes to Western Europe, while Edinburgh saw growth driven by increased seat capacity, particularly to Mediterranean destinations. In Portugal, Porto and Faro airports also delivered positive results, with increases of 7.1% and 3.7%, respectively.
In Cape Verde, expanded connections with Europe contributed to higher passenger traffic. In Mexico, growth was driven by stronger domestic flights between regional airports, while airports in the Dominican Republic recorded an expansion of connections with Spain, other Caribbean destinations and Latin America. Conversely, geopolitical factors continued to affect some markets: Japanese airports in the network recorded an 8.8% drop in traffic amid tensions with China, while Cambodia faced declining demand from China and Thailand. In Santiago, Chile, performance was affected by higher fuel prices and adjustments to flight capacity during the Southern Hemisphere winter.
