January 2025 – Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of VINCI Airports, is preparing for Carnival 2025 with positive expectations for its air traffic. The operational balance for the period points to a 16% increase in the number of international passengers compared to 2024, consolidating the airport as one of the main gateways for tourists looking to enjoy the festivities in Salvador.
In the international segment, growth was driven by the expansion of available seats on airlines such as Air Europa, which recorded a 97% increase in capacity, Sky Airline, with 33% growth, and Air France, which added new frequencies to its network. These developments reflect Salvador Bahia Airport’s commitment to expanding air connectivity, meeting the growing demand from international travelers for flights to the Bahian capital.
In addition, the airport’s overall balance for the Carnival period also forecasts a slight increase in the number of passengers compared to the previous year, highlighting both the attractiveness of the destination and the efficiency of Salvador Bahia Airport’s infrastructure. The high season has consolidated the Airport as one of the main hubs in Brazil’s Northeast, connecting Salvador to a wide range of national and international destinations.
The Airport’s relevance as a facilitator of tourism in Bahia gains even more strength during this period. Salvador is recognized as hosting one of the most sought-after Carnival celebrations in Brazil, and the increase in air operations addresses the need to connect the city to strategic markets, both for leisure and business.
With estimates of 10,565 international passengers and 125,961 domestic passengers during Carnival 2025, Salvador Bahia Airport projects consolidation as an important air connector. Marcus Campos, marketing and air promotion manager at Salvador Bahia Airport, highlights the importance of these results for strengthening the sector.
"The growth in passengers and the expansion of international operations for Carnival 2025 reflect Salvador Bahia Airport’s continued efforts to meet the demands of the high season. We reaffirm our commitment to providing more connectivity options and quality for travelers, aligned with the expectations of regional tourism and the airport’s role as a strategic gateway to Bahia."
