· The number of international passengers is the highest ever recorded since the beginning of the concession in 2018;
· Salvador welcomed tourists from countries such as France, Portugal, Spain, and Chile.
March, 2025 – Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of VINCI Airports, registered a historic record in the number of international passengers during Carnival. Between February 28 and March 5 of this year, 10,287 travelers arrived at or departed from the terminal on international flights, 13% more compared to the same period in 2024 and 26% more compared to Carnival 2019, before the pandemic.
The increase reflects the strengthening of the air connectivity of the Bahia capital with strategic destinations. The biggest highlight was recorded on the Air France route, which operated its first Carnival at Salvador Airport and transported 1,212 passengers between France and the Bahia capital.
Air Europa, with direct flights from Spain, also showed significant growth, transporting 1,563 passengers, a 70% increase. TAP, with direct flights from Portugal, maintained its leading position with 2,939 travelers, while Aerolíneas Argentinas moved 2,320 passengers between Salvador and Buenos Aires. SKY Airline, which connects the Bahia capital to Chile, transported 1,329 passengers.
“The record number of international passengers reinforces Salvador as a globally desired destination, especially during Carnival, one of the most emblematic festivals in the world. The expressive growth of some routes is a reflection of VINCI Airports’ continuous work to expand direct connections and attract new markets,” says Marcus Campos, Marketing and Air Promotions Manager at Salvador Bahia Airport.
