· The inclusion of a pet-friendly area and inclusive seating reinforces accessibility.

January, 2025 – Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, delivers its new food court, fully renovated, expanding the space by 17% and providing a more comfortable and inclusive experience for terminal users. With the new project, the court now offers 637 seats across more than 1,100 m², including accessible options with priority seating for seniors, pregnant women, and people with disabilities (PWDs), for example, as well as a pet-friendly area for passengers traveling with their pets.

Among the improvements are: changes to the entire layout, furniture, finishes, and lighting, acoustic treatment, more flight information screens, expanded power outlets, and landscaping. These elements, combined with the concept of sense of place, strengthen the connection between the airport and regional culture, using references that situate passengers in Bahia, such as earthy colors, textures, and elements that evoke the palm oil tree and acarajé.

"The delivery of the new food court represents our commitment to offering a more comfortable and welcoming experience to our passengers. This space was designed to reflect the essence of Bahia, with elements that evoke the local culture and reinforce our role as the gateway to the state. We are proud to provide an environment that unites functionality, accessibility, and cultural connection, aligned with the values and mission of Salvador Bahia Airport," says Júlio Ribas, CEO of Salvador Bahia Airport.

For architects Taís Abreu and Luiza Buratto, responsible for the project, the renovation combines functionality and regional identity. “The new food court brings much more comfort and a stronger connection with Bahian culture. Projects like this have the power to transform the passenger experience and create a bond with the destination even before they leave the airport,” highlights Taís Abreu.

The renovation, carried out in two phases to minimize impacts on terminal operations, is part of Salvador Bahia Airport's investment plan, which has implemented various improvements since 2018. Although not required by the concession contract, the renovation reinforces VINCI Airports’ commitment to delivering positive experiences and valuing regional culture.

As part of its sustainability efforts, Salvador Bahia Airport installed liquid waste collectors to improve the segregation process and enhance the quality of collected waste. Additionally, demolition materials such as floors and ceilings were reused in maintenance work, while items such as furniture were donated, strengthening the commitment to reducing waste and reusing resources.
