Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, closed the second quarter of 2026 with positive operational results. Between April and June, the airport welcomed nearly 2 million passengers, representing a 10% increase compared with the same period in 2025. In the first half of the year, more than 4.2 million passengers travelled through the terminal, up 11% from the first six months of 2025.
During the same period, the airport handled 14,435 commercial flights, a 7.4% increase over the second quarter of the previous year.
The performance reflects the expansion of the airport's route network. Highlights include the resumption of Copa Airlines' flights to Panama City and GOL's announcement of a new connecting hub in Salvador, adding 44 weekly departures to the airline's network with destinations including São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Natal, Vitória, Maceió, Recife, Fortaleza, Campina Grande and Petrolina. LATAM also strengthened its services to Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro.
VINCI Airports global performance
The VINCI Airports network, of which Salvador Bahia Airport is a member, welcomed more than 159 million passengers during the first half of 2026. Between April and June, the network handled 85.1 million passengers across its airports. Despite the impact of geopolitical factors in certain markets, including the conflict in the Middle East and tensions between China and Japan, the group's performance remained resilient thanks to the broad geographic diversification of its operations and the strength of airports across different regions of the world.
In Europe, airports including Belgrade, Edinburgh, Budapest and the Portuguese airports continued their growth trajectory, driven by expanded air services, stronger international connectivity and increasing demand for leisure travel and transatlantic routes. In the Caribbean, airports in the Dominican Republic posted significant growth following the expansion of services by North American and Latin American airlines. Meanwhile, in Cape Verde, the launch of new connections to European destinations contributed to higher passenger traffic, reinforcing the network's strong performance in strategic markets.
