April, 2026 – Salvador Bahia Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, closed the first quarter of 2026 with growth in operational traffic. Nearly 2.3 million passengers were handled between January and March, a figure 12% higher than that recorded in the same period of 2025.

The result was driven by the expansion of the domestic network of the main airlines operating at the terminal, combined with strong international demand, especially on long-haul routes. During the high season, the airport in the Bahian capital had an increase in seat supply from airlines such as TAP Air Portugal, Air Europa and Air France, in addition to the start of operations by Copa Airlines.

Air operations also showed growth in the period. In total, 16,063 commercial landings and takeoffs were recorded in the first three months of the year, an increase of 11% compared to the same interval in 2025.

Performance worldwide

The global network of VINCI Airports surpassed the mark of 74 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, recording growth of 1.5% compared to the same period of 2025. The result reinforces the resilience and geographic diversity of the network, even in a scenario marked by geopolitical tensions. Although conflicts in the Middle East and tensions between China and Japan caused punctual impacts, the effect on global dynamics remained limited.

In Latin America, the airports in the network once again showed strong performance. In Mexico, growth remained consistent, while the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica maintained positive results. The exception was Santiago, in Chile, impacted by fleet adjustments at SKY Airlines. In Cape Verde, in Africa, traffic grew by 17%, driven by the diversification of air connectivity, with new routes operated by airlines such as easyJet and Transavia.

In Europe, airports such as Belgrade, Edinburgh and Budapest maintained good performance, due to route expansion and demand for leisure destinations. In Portugal, Lisbon and Porto recorded consistent growth, with emphasis on the expansion of long-haul and transatlantic connections. On the other hand, some markets faced less favorable conditions. At London Gatwick, adjustments in flight supply and impacts from the Middle East scenario moderated performance, while in France, increased taxation continued to affect domestic traffic. In Japan, tensions with China impacted results, although the regional market remained dynamic, with emphasis on demand from South Korea.
